Ravichandran Ashwin issues update on injury; Bumrah out of first Test
Ashwin was struck on the hand while bowling and it remains unclear if he would take part in the first Test.
After sustaining a minor injury to his bowling hand, ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has issued a rather gratifying update stating that he has indeed recovered from the injury. Although he may very well not be a hundred percent at the moment, Ashwin has signaled that he certainly will be a part of the first Test match against England in Edgbaston. The first Test begins on the first of August.
Ashwin has indeed been an integral part of the Indian cricketing setup in recent times where he has not only made it big with the ball, but also with the bat. In the tour of the West Indies in early 2017, Ashwin starred with the bat with a bevy of half-centuries as well as a coupel of tons to his name as well.
As it is, the Indians are missing two of their frontline pacers in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, the former of who has returned to India after sustaining an injury to his lower back.
At the moment, irrespective of the injury concerns in the side, the Indians are remaining to be the favourites in the series and it would seem as though this is the best chance for Virat Kohli and his band of merry men to securea win in England.
Here is what Ashwin had to say
Bumrah ruled out of first Test
Jasprit Bumrah, who had a problem with a thumb in the series against Ireland has been ruled out of the first Test. “Jasprit Bumrah, who has been included in the squad, will be available for selection from the second Test onwards based on his fitness,” the statement from BCCI said.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the other hand has taken the early flight back home to nurse a back injury.
