Ravichandran Ashwin proud of the feat TN players achieved in the Historic Test

The Indian team managed to beat Afghanistan by a mammoth margin of an innings and 262 runs in their debut Test at Bangalore. It was the visitor’s maiden Test match and they looked hapless for a chunk of the contest. India, on the contrary, were clinical in the approach. They hardly dropped a sweat en route their victory. Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay started the good work for their team.

They notched an opening stand worth 168 runs in the first innings to set the ball rolling for the hosts. They lost their way a wee bit in the latter half of the first day, but dictated terms at the debutantes and presented them no footholds in the match on the second day. The bowlers laid on to the inexperienced Afghan batsmen and pinned them with sheer ease.

After letting the Indians post 474 runs in the first innings, Asghar Stanikzai’s men were shot out for 109 runs. Mohammad Nabi top scored for them while Ravichandran Ashwin churned out four wickets to break their opponents’ backbone. Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma also contributed with a couple of wickets each. With a massive lead of 365 runs, India made them follow on.

India’s comprehensive win

In their second innings, the likes of Stanikzai and Hashmatullah Shahidi showed grit and determination, but couldn’t help their team out of jail. This time around Jadeja nipped out four wickets and scripted the stupendous win for Ajinkya Rahane’s men. Following the victory, the team was delighted and called upon the losing team to pose with the trophy.

Meanwhile, Ashwin is proud for Tamil Nadu cricket. Vijay, Ashwin and Dinesh Karthik played in the team from the state and it was after 57 long years that three TN players featured in the Test XI. The off-break bowler took to Instagram and uploaded a picture with Karthik, he wrote- “Chuchubujikki!! 😂 after 57 years 3 TN players on and the park and @dk00019 ‘s review hastened the finish”
