Ravindra Jadeja will look to build on his impressive form: VVS Laxman
“I was also delighted for Ravindra Jadeja."
Ravindra Jadeja didn’t play the first four of the five-match series against England in the Test. However, he delivered with both willow and the leather in the final match at Kennington Oval in London. To multiply his joy, he was drafted into the limited overs team for the Asia Cup, which marked his return to coloured-clothing cricket after a gap of more than a year.
Recently, he played the first Test between India and Windies in front of his home crowd at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The 29-year-old picked up four wickets in the match and also went on to rack up his maiden century in whites for the national team.
It has been a productive last couple of weeks for Jadeja
In the meantime, VVS Laxman, the former Indian cricketer, reckons the ton would’ve increased his confidence. Moreover, he said that the experienced all-rounder would be keen to make use of the impressive form and churn out similar performances going into the future.
“I was also delighted for Ravindra Jadeja. He has made massive scores in First Class cricket and chipped in with half-centuries at the international level. But a maiden Test hundred does wonders for confidence like few other things do, and that it came on his home ground must have made it doubly special for him,” Laxman was quoted as saying in The Times of India (TOI).
“It has been a productive last couple of weeks for the all-rounder, and he will look to build on it as we head towards a busy, important next few months,” he added.
The second Test starts on October 12 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Rajkot and Jadeja would love another stupendous show in order for him to be a regular member of the Test team. He also has presented himself as a contender to play the 50-overs World Cup next year in England and Wales.
