The Melbourne Renegades were in a fix not just because of the injury to their wicketkeeper Peter Nevil during the match against the Adelaide Strikes but also because they had no real option to bring in as a replacement. Digging in to find an able player they reached out to Australian Capital Territory player Andrew Harriott.

Andrew is now set to play the game next game against the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba. He will be playing his first Big Bash League game while all he was doing until a couple of days ago was sell sports apparels.  It is a must-win clash for the Renegades as their only chance of making it through to the semi-final of the tournament.

Harriott earned this call on the back of a rich domestic performance as he scored close to 900 runs in 17 innings across the three formats. He got those with the help of four hundreds and as many half centuries. “I’m still coming to terms with it, to be honest,” he was quoted as saying by bigbash.com. “I’m still on cloud nine.”

Despite this being an out of the blue call the 24-year-old appears confident and has the belief of being able to deliver on such a huge occasion. “It’ll be a good opportunity and, hopefully, we can get over the line and get to the semis,” he said.

“I gave ‘Nevvy’ a quick call yesterday just to get some tips off him. Basically, if I just watch the ball, I should be sweet.” Andrew concluded saying.
