Reports: Mohammad Hafeez thinking over quitting international career after his contractual issues with PCB

Veteran Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez is currently having his thoughts on whether to continue playing for the Pakistan team or not. The senior batsman was recently granted a Central Contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the B category of cricketers. Hafeez seems to be very much disappointed with the recent contractual announcements made by the PCB. As per some sources, it is being learned that the cricketer will not be signing the B category contract given to him.

PCB has announced a fresh three-year remuneration agreement for the 2018-19 season with the Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed and senior cricketer Shoaib Malik, who acted as the representatives of the players. The agreement ensures 25 to 30 percent increase in the monthly salaries of the players. Players such as Azhar Ali, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz, Yasir Shah, Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir were included in the A category. While the likes of Hafeez and Asad Shafiq were named with the B category.

Reports: Hafeez thinking of probably quitting international career

According to the latest reports in thenews.com.pk, Hafeez expressed strong reservations over the newly announced Central Contracts for cricketers by the PCB. He was seriously depressed by this type of treatment by the cricket board. There are also several reports surfacing which suggest that Hafeez may call time on his international career , if his contractual concerns are not heard by the PCB.

Hafeez  has played 50 Tests, 200 ODIs and 83 T20Is for Pakistan, in which he has scored 3452, 6107 and 1665 runs respectively. He also has 239 wickets to his name across three formats of the game. Hafeez’s last international outing came during the T20I tri-series match against Australia, when he made his comeback into the national team after remodeling his bowling action.

However, he failed to convert his starts into big scores in the games against Zimbabwe and Australia and was then subsequently, not included in the playing XI for the five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.
