Pakistan veteran Mohammad Hafeez has reportedly turned down the contract that was offered to him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The contract offered to Hafeez gave more than PKR 100,000 per month.
But after his refusal, he will now be given a retainer contract in which he will not get a monthly salary but match fee and daily allowance. Over the past few months, many questions have been raised over Hafeez’s future with the national side. According to many former players, veterans like Hafeez and Shoaib Malik should step aside and give chance to youngsters to prove their worth at the biggest stage.
According to PakPassion Editor Saj Sadiq, Hafeez wants to see the contract being offered to newcomers. “Mohammad Hafeez has turned down a contract offered to him by the Pakistan Cricket Board as he would prefer to see the contract instead offered to a young, up and coming cricketer,” tweeted Sadiq.

Players and officials will have to get NOC from PCB before signing any other contract
Pakistan Cricket Board, meanwhile, has decided to not a player or an official to participate in any event without signing an agreement. A few players had played without signing the contract last year. PCB will offer separate contracts for cricketers and match officials from different departments. After signing the PCB contract, the players and officials will also have to get NOC from the board before accepting any other contract.
Hafeez had recently won both the player of the match and series awards against England in the third and final T20I of the series. 39-year-old Hafeez a brilliant 86-run knock to help Pakistan in defeating hosts England by five runs. Hafeez smashed six sixes in his 52-ball 86, his joint highest in T20Is and the most by a Pakistan batsman against England in the shortest format of the game.
Hafeez is also among many high-profile names which are set to go under the hammer for the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League. 24 Pakistan players have been shortlisted by Sri Lanka Cricket ahead of the auction. Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi is the expensive player in the players’ list, carrying a hefty price tag of USD 60,000. Shoaib Malik is placed in the USD 50,000 while Hafeez has a base price of USD 40,000.
