Mohammed Shami was cleared of the match-fixing allegations by BCCI on Thursday after receiving the report from Anti Corruption Unit (ACU). He was also awarded the Grade ‘B’ contract which was withheld by them following some serious claims by his wife Hasin Jahan over the last couple of weeks. Shami has been cleared to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) as well now. However, there are reports now that the cricketer admitted his extra-marital affairs before the ACU chief during the investigations.

While the Indian board was heavily criticised for holding back Shami’s central contract, BCCI had cleared its stance that they had taken the decision due to the match-fixing allegations on the cricketer. They had nothing to do with his personal life and hence they awarded him the contract after it was confirmed that he wasn’t involved in any wrongdoings.

Did Shami lie?

According to the reports in Deccan Chronicle, the confessions of Mohammed Shami being involved in extra-marital affairs has helped him in getting back the annual contract from the Indian cricketing power house. It is also being learnt that he admitted of the same before Neeraj Kumar, the chief of BCCI’s ACU, who headed the investigation of the Indian fast bowler.

Shami, however, is now being alleged of lying about his financial transaction which was done by London-based businessman Mohammad Bhai via a Pakistani girl Alishba in Dubai. “ACSU checked all his bank accounts details and found no ‘suspicious entry’ whatsoever. It was found out that Shami was only cooking up stories of ‘financial gains’ from a businessman to somehow go and spend time with his female friends outside his marriage,” a BCCI insider was quoted as saying by DNA.
