Team India will be playing three One-Day Internationals against Australia after the ongoing Test series concludes. They are also slated to travel to New Zealand for five-match ODI series and three T20 Internationals. The squads for all the three series will be picked in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the veteran cricketer and wicket-keeper MS Dhoni is set to be included in both ODI and T20I squads with the World Cup approaching fast.
According to the reports in Mumbai Mirror, MS Dhoni is likely to make his T20I comeback against New Zealand having been left out against Windies and Australia. He last featured in the blue jersey in October in the fifth ODI against the Caribbean side and since then has been away from the game not playing the domestic cricket as well. Moreover, the selectors are likely to pick the players who are certain for the World Cup for the upcoming ODIs now.
Will Dhoni’s form improve?
MS Dhoni didn’t have an auspicious time with the willow this year and his place in the team was also under the scanner. Though he completed 10,000 runs in the ODI format during the series in England there was nothing much to rejoice for the veteran. Having said that, the wicketkeeping was top notch from Dhoni. He achieved a lot of milestones while standing behind the wickets and there was hardly a bluff from the former captain.
Dhoni himself will be eager to make amends with the bat next year ahead of the World Cup. If he manages to find his IPL 2018 form, it will be like gold dust for the Indian team who are struggling for a stable middle-order and finishing touches in the death.
Moreover, these are the last few months of his illustrious international career and it is almost certain that he will be hanging his boots after the 2019 World Cup.
