Australia lost the opening Test against India at Adelaide Oval by 31 runs. After the defeat, the Aussie fast bowlers came under the scanner, especially Mitchell Starc, who seemed a tad rusty. He conceded 103 runs and picked up five wickets, combining both the innings. However, most of his scalps were lower order batters as the Indian top order got him on the mat a few times.

Subsequently, he was a recipient of severe criticism from legendary Australian cricketers. From the likes of Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Mark Waugh to his former teammate Mitchell Starc, everyone lashed out at the left-arm speedster from Baulkham Hills in New South Wales. Waugh also said that the pacer has been lacklustre for the last 12 months.

An unhappy Starc

Recently, it has been learned that the 28-year-old is not at all satisfied with the harsh comments from the Aussie greats “Starc is believed to be furious over the latest bake from Warne, having already been criticized this week by former selector Mark Waugh and pace legend Mitchell Johnson,” Fairfax Media’s Andrew Wu reported.

In the meantime, ahead of the ongoing second Test at the new Perth Stadium, Starc also spoke about his performance in Adelaide, mentioning that he was pretty much satisfied with how he bowled, barring a few overs here and there. “Bar about three overs I was pretty happy. Stuck to my plans, did my role for the team,” Starc mentioned.

The current year has been a tough one for Starc thus far. Prior to the Aussies’ Test against South Africa in Johannesburg, he developed a tibial bone stress fracture after which he was ruled out of the match. Moreover, he also missed his stint for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. The seamer made a comeback in the two-match Test series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
