Reports: Team India to travel with a their own cook during World Cup 2019
The Indian team had faced quite a few problems with regards to hospitality on their last tour to England.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will begin from May 30 with the hosts England taking on World Cup 2015 semi-finalists South Africa at the Kennington Oval. Hosts England are considered to be favourites to win their first World Cup title, while five-time champions and defending their title won in 2015, Australia is also vying for the Cup as favourites. Ranked No.2 in the ICC ODI team rankings India is also considered to be one of the contenders amongst the ten participating teams given their form in the last 2 years.
They’ve won the ODI series against South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Australia in the lead up to the mega event. The Virat Kohli-led team is full of superstars like Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Kohli himself and the team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure victory is theirs this time.
Cook to accompany the Indian team during the World Cup
BCCI authorities have reportedly decided to have a special cook accompany the team on the World Cup tour to provide solutions to the individual requirements of the players, as per reports from Indian Express.
Having a cook will help the trainers keep the players on their diet and meals can be ready as per requirement of players and as per their choices. The Indian team’s primary trainer Mr Shankar Basu is expected to monitor the diet and fitness of all the player and will be responsible for preparing the diet charts for the players as well.
The team management had also requested the team to travel in trains in England rather than buses to avoid long journeys in cramped facilities and BCCI is pondering over the issues given that security clearance has to be received for the players first for the travel part.
Problems plenty for India on last England tour
The Indian team had travelled to England in 2018 for a full tour and had faced difficulties in hospitalities given to them. The players were uncomfortable with the hotels provided and the food choices that were available to them. Many had to rely on outside food on a few occasions. It was reported that players had to rely on a very limited choice of food options and even basic things like bananas were not provided to them.
Virat Kohli & Co. were also unhappy with the gym facilities made available to them during the tour to England and hence requested BCCI to provide better facilities to them during the World Cup. The board is supposedly keen on avoiding all these issues so that the players are in the best frame of mind when the World Cup begins.
