Reports: U19 stars set to be picked for the India A tour of England

The selection committee led by MSK Prasad is all set to announce the squads for India A tour of England which will commence on June 21. The U19 stars who played a crucial role in the winning the World Cup earlier this year are likely to be picked for the tour as Rahul Dravid will also travel with the team. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gills and Shivam Mavi will find a place in India A squad.

India A side will play the One-Day tri-series against England Lions (A team) and Windies A team commencing from June 22. They will also lock horns against the Lions in the one-off four-day Test match from July 16 to 19 and then will also play a couple of three-day fixtures against the County sides.

Good form in IPL rewarded

According to the reports in Firstpost, the trio is set to be rewarded for their recent showings in the ongoing  Indian Premier League (IPL) season where they have set the stage on fire for their respective teams. While Mavi and Gill have been plying their trades for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Prithvi Shaw has been thrashing the bowlers while opening the innings for Delhi Daredevils. They are expected to continue in the same vein until the end of the season now bring laurels for their teams.

Gill has already played a couple of eye-catching innings which has impressed a lot of current and former cricketers. His teammate at the KKR, Mavi has been constantly bowling well at a sheer pace which has troubled the best in the business. But Shaw has been in magnificent touch this season and has scored 205 runs in only 5 matches at a jaw-dropping strike-rate of 170.83. He was the skipper of the Indian team which lifted the U19 World Cup earlier this year in New Zealand under the coach Rahul Dravid.
