It will be a day when all the greats of modern-day cricket for Australia will gather and express their ecstasy for all three gentlemen. The Chairman of Australian Cricket Hall of fame rated the former Australian skipper, Ricky Ponting as ‘one of the finest cricketers’ in both the formats.

Peter King rates Ricky as the finest cricketer

In a cricket.com.au statement, Peter King, the chairman of Australian Cricket Hall of fame said, “Ricky Ponting is unquestionably one of the finest Test and one-day cricketers Australia has produced. An exceptional fieldsman, he has an outstanding record as a top-order batsman and captain and was a key figure during a highly successful era in Australian cricket. That only he and Sachin Tendulkar have scored more than 13,000 runs in both Test and one-day cricket speaks volumes of his place in the game’s history.”

Karen Rolton also had a wonderful career playing for the Women’s team. She made her debut way back in 1995 and played 14 Test matches scoring 1,002 runs at a scintillating average of 55.66, laced with two centuries and five half-centuries. She also took 14 wickets at 23.35.

Lastly, Norman O’Neill, who passed away in the year 2008 played 42 Tests for Australia after making his international debut aged just 21. He has scored over 2700 runs for Australia and carries six hundred to his name. His phenomenal career included a memorable hundred against West Indies which ended in a famous tie.
