Rishabh Pant is Showing Glimpses of MS Dhoni's Leadership Characteristics: Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has been on a roll in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, having scalped 13 wickets in just seven games. It was indeed been a remarkable turnaround for the left-arm wrist-spinner as he didn’t get many chances in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playing XI in the last couple of seasons. However, his new franchise Delhi Capitals has brought the best out of him and Kuldeep is also pleased.

The 27-year-old credited DC skipper Rishabh Pant for his stellar show and even compared him to the legendary MS Dhoni. Notably, Kuldeep earned remarkable success in the international arena till the time Dhoni was behind the stumps. He used to guide the young spinner was precision and the result was evident. Moreover, Kuldeep’s downfall also started after Dhoni’s final match in national colours.

The star spinner is now guided by Rishabh Pant and he reckons the southpaw is showing Dhoni’s characteristics in terms of leadership. “I feel Rishabh is showing a few glimpses of MS Dhoni’s characteristics behind the stumps. He guides well and stays calm on the field. Wicketkeepers play a big role in the success of spinners,” Kuldeep said in a press release issued by Delhi Capitals.

“The credit for my performance in this IPL goes to Rishabh as well. We have a good understanding now,” he added. The young spinner also said Delhi Capitals assistant coach Shane Watson has helped him with the mental aspect of the game.

“Shane Watson has also helped me a lot. I am very lucky to have worked with Watson for three-four sessions. He has particularly helped me with the mental aspect of the game. I have shared a lot of things with him about what I have been through before joining this team. I speak openly with him,” said the 27-year-old.

Comparisons have been drawn between Dhoni and Pant every since the latter arrived in the international arena. While the 24-year-old has made a name for himself with impressive performances, he certainly has a long way to go.
