After warming the benches in the first half of IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals pacer Chetan Sakariya got an opportunity against Kolkata Knight Riders and the youngster made an instant impact. He gave away just 17 runs in three overs and scalped the important wicket of Aaron Finch. Fans and experts were mighty impressed with Sakariya’s stellar show as he was patiently waiting for his chances.

Speaking about his tenure with DC so far, Sakariya lavished massive praises on head coach Ricky Ponting and skipper Rishabh Pant for keeping him motivated. The 24-year-old said Ponting keeps the dressing room atmosphere light and makes players feel comfortable. The former Australian captain also talks to all players personally to boost their confidence further up.

Rishabh Pant is the first one to take the team out of trouble: Chetan Sakariya

“I have been here for a long time now. I am just impressed with the way Ricky Ponting thinks. Whenever a difficult situation comes, Ponting tries to motivate the players and he also tries to lighten up the room by cracking a joke and personally, he speaks to the players and asks them to be ready for the game. He focuses on each and every player and I have been impressed with this trait of his,” Sakariya told NDTV.

Sakariya also lauded Pant for taking pressure away from players and taking the accountability of unfavorable results. “Rishabh Bhaiya is very calm and he takes all the pressure, responsibility on himself. He always takes the job of taking the team out of pressure situations. Whenever the other players do well, he gives them credit, but whenever difficult situations come, he is the first one to raise his hand to take the team out of trouble,” he further stated.

Meanwhile, Sakariya had also unleashed a special ‘Dragon Ball Z’ celebration after dismissing Finch in the game. Opening up about the same, the left-arm pacer said: “I celebrated in the style of a cartoon character from Dragon Ball Z and by placing two fingers on your forehead, you can teleport and that was my way of paying an ode to my father,” said Sakariya.
