The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is underway and fans are set to be entertained over a period of two months. Delhi Capitals are one of the teams to watch out for this season as they qualified for the playoffs in the last three editions. However, the IPL trophy is still elusive for them. Nonetheless, left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed reckons DC skipper Rishabh Pant will end the side’s title drought this year.
Notably, Khaleel is back with the Delhi-based franchise after serving Sunrisers Hyderabad for four seasons. The lanky pacer from Rajasthan bagged a whopping INR 5.25 crore in the mega auction. As Khaleel was Pant’s teammate during the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, he’s well versed with the southpaw’s mindset and also shares a great bond with him.

Highlighting the same, the 24-year-old said that his camaraderie with the wicketkeeper-batter helps him to execute the plans better. Khaleel is also confident about DC clinching their maiden title this season.
“I know Rishabh personally. He is my age and we played cricket together and started our careers almost at the same time. When you know your captain, you can plan things better with him. He is a talented captain and player. I am really excited about the reunion with Pant,” Khaleel was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
“I am confident Delhi Capitals will win their maiden title this time. Rishabh is a talented captain and has been doing really well for Delhi. I am sure Rishabh will lead Delhi to their maiden title win,” he added. Meanwhile, Khaleel’s maiden assignment in DC jersey was a fruitful one as he recorded figures of 2/27 in his side’s opening fixture against five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
DC also went on to win the fixture by four wickets with Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav putting up a batting exhibition in the last few overs. Both DC and Khaleel would like to put up many such performances in the tournament.
