Robin Uthappa announced as replacement for Karun Nair in KPL 2018 Auction
Karun Nair will be joining the India Test squad for the five-match series in England.
After Karun Nair was picked for the Indian Test squad for the five-match Test series against England, Robin Uthappa was roped in to fill Nair’s spot in the upcoming edition of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) 2018. Nair, who has been the captain of the India ‘A’ Test side has gotten another chance to prove himself this time in Eglish conditions.
Previously, Uthappa, who has proven to be a rather impressive commodity in T20 cricket. With his explosive batting skill and ability to keep wickets, he has been quite fantastic. However, the KKR batsman was expected to be on the sidelines for this edition with his wife and him expecting their first child as well. However, he has seemingly become available for the premier Karnataka tournament, so to speak.
“Robin has confirmed his participation in the player auctions. It is good for Karun Nair that he has been selected for Team India. It is fortunate for him and unfortunate for the KPL that he missed out”.
Uthappa raring to go in KPL 2018
In a video, Uthappa went on to add that a lot of people had indeed asked him on his decision to sit out of the KPL. However, now that he is a part of it, he is certainly expecting to make his mark as well.
“A lot of people are asking me why I am not playing in KPL. Sheetal and I are expecting the first one. And we are really excited about it. And season begins next month,” the Kolkata Knight Riders batsman had said in the video.
In recent times, the 33-year old Uthappa has made himself an important player for the Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
