Rohan Gavaskar replies in style
Rohan, also a former Indian cricketer, who played his last competitive game in 2010, was going through a void after the conclusion of the four-match Test series. Rohan took to Twitter and wrote, “I miss hashtagging this – #BorderGavaskarTrophy.”
However, a fan tried to get under his skin by trolling him. The fan also brought the debated topic of nepotism to the fore. The fan took to Twitter and wrote, “Hey nepo… No more selfish cricket.”

Here’s the reply
Last year, another former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra, said that nepotism doesn’t quite work in cricket. Had it been a major criterion, Rohan would have played a higher number of matches for India at the highest level.
“If you see the bigger picture, Sunil Gavaskar’s son Rohan Gavaskar should have played many ODI and Test matches for India because of his father’s name and fame but it wasn’t like that. Even when he played for India, he had performed really well for Bengal in Ranji cricket.
“In fact, Rohan Gavaskar did not get a place in Mumbai squad even after Gavaskar was added in front of his name, he had to play from Bengal,” Chopra was quoted as saying.
In 11 ODIs, Rohan managed 151 runs at an average and strike-rate of 18.87 and 64.52 respectively. He had a top score of 54 and his last game was against Pakistan in Birmingham.
