India star Rohit Sharma could not have asked for a better match at his home ground Mumbai on Wednesday. With thousands of fans cheering including his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira, Rohit helped India crush West Indies by 67 runs and clinch the three-match series 2-1. India piled up a mammoth score of 240/3 before restricting West Indies to 173 for 8.

After the visitors invited India to bat first, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out all guns blazing. The two started playing the big shots right from the word go and went on to add 135 runs for the first wicket before Rohit Sharma was sent back by Kesrick Williams. Rohit scored 71 off just 34 balls with the help of 6 fours and 5 sixes.

Rahul and Virat Kohli then added 98 runs for the third wicket as India posted the mammoth total. Rahul was out in the final over of the match and missed a well-deserved century by just 9 runs. Kohli, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 69 off just 29 balls. The score of 240 turned out to be more than enough for the hosts as they comfortably defended it.

Kieron Pollard (68) and Shimron Hetmyer (41) were the only batsmen who showed some fight as West Indies crumbled in the title-decider. There was no way back for the visitors once they were reduced to 17 for 3. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and went on to suffer a crushing defeat at the hands of their fancied opponents.

Rohit Sharma’s cute moment:

As if his stunning knock was not enough, Rohit Sharma also won hearts with his adorable gesture for his daughter. As soon as he finished his knock, Rohit was seen trying to talk to his daughter from the dressing room. It was really adorable as the fans cheered on while Rohit was busy seeking Samaira’s attention from the dressing room.

Meanwhile, India and West Indies will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series. The series will get underway on Sunday (December 15). This will be India’s first ODI assignment since the series in the Caribbeans in the summer.
