Rohit has been unstoppable in India scoring runs at a brilliant average of 55.
Ever since Rohit Sharma’s game in One Day International cricket found consistency, his numbers have spoken volumes. Especially in the Indian conditions, Rohit has been unstoppable scoring runs at a brilliant average of 55. The Indian opening batsman amassed both his double centuries in the ODI format including the world record of 264 also at home. During the 5th ODI game against Australia, the Indian team’s vice-captain went past a new milestone in his ODI career.
The opening batsman took a decent amount of time to get off the mark in this innings as he played 14 balls before scoring his first run. With a boundary down the ground off Pat Cummins, Rohit scored his first and followed with another boundary off the very next ball to complete 2000 runs on Indian soil in ODI cricket.
Thus, he became the 12th player to aggregate 2000 ODI runs in India and the 70th player with as many runs in a specific country. Taking just 42 innings, Rohit became the quickest to complete 2000 ODI runs in India. Thus, he broke the record of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who took 45 innings for bringing up 2000 ODI runs in India.
