Team India led by their leader Virat Kohli has already resembled in the battle territory to face the Proteas in their own backyard. They have started out building the plans and strategies for the challenging series ahead and their proper execution will eventually decide their fortunes of scripting the new history books.

Limited overs specialist opener Rohit Sharma, who is expected to take up the No.6 spot in the Indian Test team against South Africa, feels that the present Proteas bowling attack is absolutely lethal and dangerous one in its home conditions.

On his way back to the Test team after a long injury period, Sharma scored a terrific ton against Sri Lanka in the second Test match and followed it up with two consecutive half-centuries. He certainly has upped his game in the longest format and is looking ahead to cement his spot after a golden run in limited overs in 2017.

It is very important and critical for the Indian team that the batsman performs to his potential and score runs heavily in the upcoming overseas tours.

Their bowling attack looks balanced

Rohit revealed that this bowling attack of South Africa is the best and a different attack in the world right now. He mentioned the fact that this is not a one-dimensional bowling line-up as it has the combination of experience and varieties in a cluster. The right-hander said that with match winners like Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander in their ranks they possess a big threatening attack on their home soil.

He also talked about the different challenges of facing these South African bowlers and their skills and abilities. He said that considering Rabada’s height, he can hit the deck very hard and the experienced campaigners Morkel and Steyn will make things difficult with the new ball. The big-hitting batsman also praised Philander for bowling on consistent lengths, making it very tough for the batters.

“It’s the best attack in the world. See, England and Australia can also unleash a great variety at home. But this South African attack is different and certainly the most lethal. It’s not a one-dimensional attack. They have variety, experience and different skill levels. (Kagiso) Rabada is a tall guy who can hit the deck hard,” Rohit said.

“Morne Morkel is the same. Dale Steyn has the experience to use the new and the old ball. Vernon Philander is so dangerous in SA’s home conditions. He keeps bowling that length, never gives anything easy. It is the most challenging of all challenging attacks we’ll be facing in the next one year,” he added ahead of the opening Test of the series.
