Rohit Sharma, after his outing as India’s newest vice-captain, posted a video message on his social media handles in which he spoke about the team’s dominating performances in Sri Lanka. India won all nine matches they played in Sri Lanka across all formats in an unprecedented feat, the last of which was a seven wicket win in a one-off T20I.
The outing for him is particularly special because he had been actively involved in the victory of three ODI matches where he has scored two centuries and half-century in the five-match ODI series.India’s 3-0 victory in the Test series, followed by a 5-0 thrashing of the opponents in their own backyard in the ODIs made it Sri Lanka’s first time being whitewashed in a bilateral series at home.
The vice-captain took to Twitter and Instagram to post a video about the same where he appreciated his team members, the support staff and gave a special mention to the fans back in India. Team India is now scheduled to play a limited overs series against Australia at home that begins from September 17.
Here is what Rohit said in his video
“What an amazing journey this has been for all of us right from the Test series till the last T20I we played today. We are going back home undefeated and that is never easy, it doesn’t matter which country we play in. Just goes to show that this team has a lot of character and we have got a great bunch of players and support staff who are willing to work hard all the time and give everything they have,” quoted Rohit Sharma in the video.
“Credit goes to each and every one of us. Also the support back home. Your continued support is always appreciated by all the players and we look forward to your continued support in the future again. Thank you again, and we look forward to Australia now,” concluded the newly appointed vice-captain of the Indian team.
