Rohit Sharma is the best batsman in the world right now: Manoj Tiwary
Manoj Tiwary has said Rohit Sharma is the only batsman who knows where his off-stump lies.
Virat Kohli and Steve Smith have been the popular picks as the best batsman in the world for the last five-six years or so. The race has been limited between the India skipper and the former Australia skipper. Kohli is currently the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world while Smith was the top-ranked Test batsman not very long ago.
At present, Smith is the second-ranked Test batsman in the world. And while the jury is still out to decide the best batsman in the world, Manoj Tiwary has added another name to the debate by stating that Rohit Sharma is the best in the world at present. The veteran cricketer’s comments came after seeing Rohit’s performance in the ongoing fourth Test between India and England in Ahmedabad.
The India opener tried to bail India out of trouble in the crucial clash after the hosts lost the likes of Shubman Gill (0), Cheteshwar Pujara (17), Kohli (0) and Ajinkya Rahane (27) cheaply. Rohit, however, stood firm and scored a hard-working 49 runs off 144 balls.
Manoj Tiwary impressed with Rohit Sharma’s technique
Manoj Tiwary took to Twitter to lavish praise on Rohit Sharma. The senior batsman started by saying that the art of leaving balls outside off-stump has vanished from Tests. Further, he praised Rohit and stated that the India star is the only batsman who knows where his off-stump is. Tiwary hailed the right-handed batsman for his transformation and called him the best in the world, writing:
“Art of leaving balls outside off-Stump has completely vanished from test cricket. The only batsman who is assured about where his off stump is @ImRo45 Wat a transformation in his game. Rohit Sharma is the best batsman in the world right now for me, Period…”
Rohit Sharma has been in good form in the ongoing series and will also play a huge role if India are to win batting fourth in the ongoing Test. The Mumbai star had scored a cracking century in the second Test. His sublime 161-run knock had helped the hosts won the game and draw level in the series. India would be hoping that their star man delivers once again, this time in Ahmedabad.
