After the ICC World Test Championship 2021 final which ended in a disappointing loss for the Indian team, all the members of the side were given a much-important break to get recharged ahead of the five-match Test series against England. The break has now ended as all the players have got together in Durham for a warm-up match against an XI of players from several counties.

Ahead of this much-important game, the team was seen sweating it out in the nets at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street. Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli were practicing in the nets alongside Jasprit Bumrah and other members of the team. After the practice session, Rohit Sharma posted an image of himself and added a beautiful caption, which seemed like something a commentator would say.

‘Iska feel hi alag hai’ – Rohit Sharma on the ball meeting the middle of the bat

Sharma, who is also known as the hitman posted two images in his Instagram post. His images depicted him practicing in the nets and trying some batting drills. The experienced batsman wrote in the caption, “haath mein balla aur balle ke beech se nikla gend, iska feel hi alag hai” which literally translates to ‘bat in the hand, and the ball gets stuck from the middle of the bat. This particular feeling is quite different from anything else.”

India’s three-day practice match will be played against County Championship XI which will be starting on July 20. The match is supposed to help the Indian team get proper practice for the main five-match series against England which is about to start on August 4. The first Test between these two teams will be played at Nottingham.

The series is also part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle 2021-23. The break which the Indian team got saw the players holidaying around the United Kingdom. Some of the players went to watch the Euro Cup 2020 matches, while some were found at Wimbledon. Ravichandran Ashwin even went and had a good match practice when he showed up for Surrey in one County Championship match.

It was only a few days back that a major shock was seen amid the Indian camp, as Rishabh Pant was tested positive with COVID-19. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman has now almost recovered and is likely to be with the squad ahead of the first Test.
