Rookie South Africa players hope to find success in T20 Global League

The emergence of T20 leagues has redefined the way cricket is played across the globe. The brash and brutal form of the game has come to the fore and the youngsters are loving every bit of it. No wonder why they see such leagues as the stepping stone towards something bigger in stature. The rookie players of South Africa are eyeing something similar with the T20 Global League approaching their way.
CSA’s T20 Global League is expected to be a grand affair run on the same lines as the popular T20 leagues like the IPL and the BBL. It is a well known fact that these leagues have helped unearthed some serious talent. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ben Cutting, Axar Patel, Chris Lynn, James Faulkner, and many more have used the T20 leagues as their claim to fame and the penultimate step towards international cricket.
Now, with the T20 league of South Africa coming up, the youngsters and rookie players are hoping to reap similar benefits. The rules of the competition, which has 8 participating teams, mention that there must be two rookie players in the squad.
Spotlight on the rookies
As per the reports in Sport24.co.za, it is understood that these players have to be aged 23 or under, and at least one of them will always be picked on match-days. Considering this fact, expect the likes of Janneman Malan and Kyle Simmonds presenting their cases in front of the bigger audiences. Both players had decent time in the South A tour to Zimbabwe earlier this year.
Simmonds had a good all-round outing with a ton and a five for to his name in the very first four day fixture at Bulawayo. The 21-year old Malan, on the other hand, is a handy batsman in the top order. He hit 108 and 56 in the one day fixtures on the same tour for the A side.
