Rubel Hossain confident of finding success in South Africa
"South Africa is an ideal place for pace bowlers," quoted Rubel.
Team Bangladesh have arrived in South Africa and are all set to take on the hosts in the first Test starting on September 28. Ahead of the first Test, one of the senior bowlers in the side, Rubel Hossain, has expressed his confidence of finding success in the South African conditions. As per the quotes in bdcrictime.com, Rubel mentioned that the South African soil has always aided the fast bowlers.
Unlike the subcontinent, the South African decks provide good pace and bounce. Hence, the pacers always have an advantage compared to the spinners in the side. He is hoping to not only get pace out of the tracks at the venue but also some swing.
“You all know that in South Africa pace bowlers are always in an advantageous position. Wickets here are bouncy and balls get swing making the course unpredictable. South Africa is an ideal place. I think if we the seamers can bowl according to our plan and place the balls onto the right place we can easily get success,” quoted Rubel Hossain.
Pace heavy squad
The Bangladeshi team’s previous overseas tour was in Sri Lanka earlier this year where they had leveled the Test series. Their most recent Test fixture was against Australia at home which they drew level as well. For the South African tour, the BCB selectors have picked up a heavy pace attack.
They have as many as 5 pace bowlers in the squad – Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam, and Subhasis Roy. During the tour, Bangladesh will play two Test matches. The first Test will be played at Senwes Park at Potchefstroom. The second Test will be played at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein. The Test series will be followed by a 3-match ODI series. This will be followed by two T20Is that will cap off the full tour for the Bangladesh side.
