Rubel Hossain underlines importance of Bangladesh bowling coach
Bangladesh pacer Rubel Hossain may have been out of the side for almost a year now, however, the experienced pacer has stated the importance of a bowling coach for the Bangladesh cricket team. The Bangladeshi side has been without a bowling coach since the conclusion of the World T20 in February when Zimbabwean Heath Streak left his role to become the coach of the IPL franchise the Gujarat Lions. Since then, the Bangladesh side has been without a bowling coach.
Although the likes of Venkatesh Prasad as well as Aaqib Javed have been linked with the role, no one has been appointed as of now. Aaqib Javed has publically stated his disinterest in joining the side although agreeing to spend a short amount of time with them.
Talking to Cricbuzz, Rubel said, “We really need a bowling coach. We can learn new things from him. We are professional cricketers who have picked up things from different coaches and there’s no end to learning. When I am trying something new in the nets, a coach has much impact with his tips.”
Talking about his absence from the national side, Rubel said, “I am working hard to keep my strength – bowling fast and yorkers – in its place. I am trying to return to my old pace though it hasn’t really gone down too much during the Dhaka Premier League. I have been working on a different type of delivery for a long time in training. I basically hold the ball between my fingers and deliver it. The ball is supposed to slow down after pitching. If I can deliver it properly, it will be quite successful. I really want to add a few variations to my bowling because I can only bowl fast.”
