Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Rumman Raees ran riot against Lahore Whites in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam trophy in the country. He picked up nine wickets in the second innings of the match for just 25 runs and scripted a victory for his team United Bank Limited (UBL) by an inning and 122 runs. Raees is considered as one of the rising stars and another product of Pakistan’s supply chain of left-arm fast bowlers.
It is the best bowling figures for the bowler and second best in Quaid-e-Azam trophy in the last 20 years. He ended the match with impressive figures of 11/80 in the Pool ‘B’ game of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, played in Lahore from October 3 to 6. The impressive performance will surely put him under selectors’ radar for the longest format of the game. Pakistan is currently playing the Test series against Sri Lanka in the UAE and are lagging behind by 0-1.
Impressive debut
Rumman made his debut in the 50-overs format during the ICC Champions Trophy which Pakistan won in June. He was drafted into the playing eleven to fill in the big shoes of Mohammad Amir for the semi-final against England. He impressed everyone with the figures of 2/44 in the match which helped the Men in Green restrict the hosts up to 211. He has also played 5 T20Is in which he has scalped 4 wickets and conceded runs at 7.17 per over.
Though Raees is considered as the limited overs specialist, he is bowling really well with the red ball and might soon earn a national call-up. Also, the 25-year-old has so far picked 138 wickets in just 44 matches in his first-class career which makes him the strong candidate in the future to don the white jersey for his country. He would look to continue his prowess with the ball and win the trophy for his side.
