The fate of England’s Test series against India has already been sealed as the visiting team lost by 60 runs to surrender the series 1-3 with one match remaining to be played at The Kennington Oval in London. Virat Kohli and Co had their fair share of opportunities to latch on, but the English team had answers to every question hurled at them.

The Brits batted first on the wicket, which seemed a tad dry underneath, because of which the curators were hesitant to shave off the entire grass from the deck. They found themselves in grave danger at one point in time, but the likes of Moeen Ali and Sam Curran pulled them out of the precarious position. India found themselves in a similar position.

Curtains for India

Fortunately, Cheteshwar Pujara came to the party and helped his team take a 27-run lead. Even the Indian lower order lent him appropriate support, which helped Pujara to a large extent. In England’s second innings, the middle and lower-middle-order yet again expertly staved the Indian attack off and took their side to a significant lead of 244 runs.

Curran and Jos Buttler turned out to be a thorn in the flesh of India’s surge. The visitors lost three early wickets to find themselves in dire straits, but Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane buckled down to build a 101-run stand, which reignited India’s hopes of a victory. Nevertheless, a flurry of wickets pushed India back after which they couldn’t carve a recovery.

Subsequently, the match ended in four days.  In the meantime, Russel Arnold, the Sri Lankan cricketer turned commentator, took an indirect jibe at the Indian team. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Test matches are still 5 days aren’t they ??? #justasking.”

However, the comments didn’t go down well with the fans and they slammed him left-right and centre.
