Ryan Burl signs contract with Puma Cricket a day after seeking shoe sponsor on Twitter
Ryan Burl was last seen in the T20I series against Pakistan in April 21.
On Saturday (May 22), Zimbabwe cricketer Ryan Burl left the cricket world heartbroken after sharing a picture of his torn shoes. Taking to Twitter, the batsman posted an image of his ripped shoes and asked for sponsorship for his national team so that the players won’t have to glue the shoes back every time a series gets over. Within 24 hours, Burl’s needs were met as sports brand Puma Cricket offered to sponsor him.
Reacting to Burl’s viral post, Puma Cricket’s official account asked the cricketer to take the glue away. Minutes later, the all-rounder confirmed signing a contract with the prominent sports brand. Notably, many cricket fans across the globe offered support to Burl after coming across his post. Overwhelmed by the response, the legs-spinner also expressed gratitude to all his fans and well-wishers.
Puma cricket comes to Ryan Burl’s rescue
“I am so proud to announce that I’ll be joining the @pumacricket team. This is all due to the help and support from the fans over the last 24 hours. I couldn’t be more grateful to you all. Thanks so much @PUMA,” Buryl tweeted to break the news of signing a contract with Puma Cricket.
Earlier, Puma also gave a heartwarming response to Buryl’s viral post. “Time to put the glue away, I got you covered @ryanburl3,” they wrote.
Meanwhile, Ryan Burl, who represented Zimbabwe in 2012 and 2014 Under-19 World Cups, has been with the national side since 2017. The southpaw is an aggressive batsman in the middle-order who can also contribute with his handy leg-breaks. So far, he has played three Tests, 15 ODIs, and 25 T20Is, in which he scored 660 runs and scalped 18 wickets. Although these numbers aren’t sensational, Burl, 27, has a long way to go in international cricket, and he’ll like to enhance his game.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe team’s last assignment was a two-match Test series against Pakistan at home. Unfortunately, the home team couldn’t offer any fight to Babar Azam’s men and lost both Tests by an innings. Zimbabwe will next be seen in a three-match ODI series against Ireland in August.
