SA vs IND: Faf du Plessis impressed by an Indian bowler's consistency

The Test series is over and it is time to switch to the limited overs format. The No. 1 spot will be on the line in the six-match ODI series. Having won the Test series 2-1, Du Plessis and his men know that India cannot be taken for granted in the ODI format. They have got players who have the capability to dismantle the opposition in few overs. There are more than one match-winner in the team.

Du Plessis and his team must be at their best to stand a chance against Kohli and co. The first ODI is set to kickstart on Thursday at Kingsmead. Indian bowlers have been in red-hot form as they took all 60 wickets in the Test series. SA skipper praised the Indian spinners for their commendable job.

The Proteas will be without the services of their talisman AB de Villiers. It is to be noted that the men in Blue haven’t won a series against the Proteas in the past 25 years. The visitors have salvaged only 5 wins out of 27 ODIs they have played against South Africa in South Africa. It is a great time for Kohli’s men to amend the record.

One bowler surprised Faf with his consistency

“The conditions in the Test series were bowling friendly, but I was surprised how consistent the Indian seamers were. They were very, very consistent and it showed us there is a lot of strength in their bowling department.” Faf was quoted as saying by Times Now. “Jasprit Bumrah was a surprise selection because India had more experienced bowlers in the squad, but he was very impressive. He is a good ODI bowler but I was really impressed with his consistency. He didn’t bowl a lot of bad balls, which shows that he is someone for the future,” he added.

The Proteas must be wary of the spin twins Chahal and Kuldeep. Though the conditions are seam friendly, these two spinners tend to spin a web around the oppositions who fail to pick their variations. They have got good control and are always looking to take wickets. They are never scared to looping the ball in the air and they know that a wicket may just be around the corner.
