Sabbir Rahman accused of attacking a spectator during the match
Sabbir Rahman is likely to face a huge monetary compensation now.
Bangladesh cricketer Sabbir Rahman has been found guilty of an incursion against a spectator during the match while playing for Rajshahi Division. He has invited a controversy unnecessarily once again after he was accused of physically assaulting a woman during the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and had to confront a huge fine of 13 lac BDT. However, this time around there are chances that he might get suspended under the disciplinary actions of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The incident happened when some of the spectators threw offensive words to Sabbir after he bagged a duck in the only opportunity he got to bat. The ongoing game is the last round of the National Cricket League, the domestic tournament of Bangladesh. After the incident, Sabbir took the permission of the on-field umpires Gazi Sohail and Tanvir Ahmed and went out of the field. Then he called the spectator who lambasted him behind the sightscreen and assaulted him.
BCB reacts
Sabbir Rahman is likely to face a huge monetary compensation now as BCB has cleared that these actions from the national players are unacceptable. The youngster is a crucial member of the team now and is being touted as the next big thing in Bangladesh cricket. The match referee has already found him guilty and now the cricket board will take the action against him. The chairman of the operations committee of BCB also criticised the actions of Sabbir.
“We are informed about the matter by the report of match referee. It is totally unacceptable for a national team representative. We are embarrassed. The nature of punishment will be determined by the disciplinary committee. Those who have their places in the national team must understand what to do or not,” he was quoted as saying by bdcrictime after asking about the unfortunate incident.
