World Cup 2011 winner Sachin Tendulkar from India and 1992 World Cup winning captain Imran Khan from Pakistan will be present during the high voltage clash between India and Pakistan in the World T20 2016 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on March 19.

Both the players enjoy god-like status in their respective countries and the India-Pakistan match at Eden Gardens will be a match that fans from both the countries look forward to and this year’s clash is a much awaited one, after the series between India and Pakistan was cancelled.

Sourav Ganguly, who is the president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) extended an invitation to his good friend and former opening partner Sachin Tendulkar to attend the India-Pakistan clash and Tendulkar confirmed the receipt of invitation in an interview on TV. The officials at the CAB say that he has already accepted the invite.

Pakistan’s mercurial captain who led them to the 1992 World Cup win in Australia, Imran Khan will also be travelling to Eden Gardens on invitation of Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. Afridi requested one of the greatest all-rounders to play the game, Imran to come and attend the match and encourage the players by having a pep talk with the team ahead of the game.

Interestingly, both Sachin Tendulkar and Imran Khan played against each other in the 1992 World Cup, the first ever clash between India and Pakistan in World Cup and India beat Pakistan to start a streak which has not been beaten since then.

Some reports suggest that Imran Khan will accompany 1992 World Cup man of the final Wasim Akram to the dressing room to give a talk to Pakistani players before the clash. Pakistan will start their campaign against Bangladesh on March 16 in Kolkata. India will start their campaign against New Zealand in the first match of the tournament on March 15 at Nagpur.
