During Tendulkar’s era, he was the role model for every aspiring cricketer who wanted to break at the international stage. Bangladesh’s Mohammad Ashraful, who was a ball boy in international matches, first saw the glimpse of Tendulkar’s batting at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. He even took pictures with the ‘Master Blaster’ at that time.
Years after the incident, Ashraful showed the picture to Tendulkar and the Tendulkar was left surprised after seeing the photo. Ashraful revealed the whole story when he came on YouTube live with renowned sports journalist Noman Mohammad.
Mohammad Ashraful thought Sachin would eat less food
Ashraful had invited everyone including Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh and the then video analyst of Mumbai Indians to his house. The Bangladesh international was amazed after seeing Tendulkar eating at his home. Ashraful had anticipated that Tendulkar might eat less as he has a very controlled personality in real life.
However, to Ashraful’s surprise, Tendulkar ate a lot. Ashraful revealed that Tendulkar ate all the items his mother cooked, from bread, polao, rice, fish, meat, vegetables to yoghurt and sweets.
“Believe me, Sachin ate all the items my mother cooked. Then he also ate a lot of yoghurt and sweets. I couldn’t ask Sachin how he could eat so much,” said Ashraful during the interaction.
Ashraful also revealed that at one point Sachin himself said, “I eat less most of the time. I eat a loaf of vegetables. But sometimes I eat. I eat as much as I can on the day when I wish to eat.”
