Sachin Tendulkar applauds India's team effort to stage a fightback in the series
The visitors thumped England by 203 runs to make it 2-1 in the five-match series.
Many had written them off after losing the second Test match at Lord’s. But Team India believed in their abilities and have staged a sensational comeback in the series. Their captain Virat Kohli led from the front as usual and there were contributions from other batters as well which made the difference eventually. The bowlers including Hardik Pandya picked 20 wickets as the team effort helped the visitors thump England by 203 runs at Trent Bridge.
No wonder that the team is being lauded for their efforts but very few had belief in them after being 0-2 down. Australia is the only team to have come back and won the series from this situation and that too almost 80 years ago. Virat Kohli, at the post-match presentation, was keen about winning the five-match rubber and his team has the ability to achieve the unthinkable and the possibility of history repeating can’t be denied.
Master praises Bumrah’s spell
Like many former Indian cricketers, even Sachin Tendulkar was in awe of Team India after the victory and he felt that it was a complete team effort from them. Though he pointed out that Jasprit Bumrah’s spell with the second new ball was absolutely special. He went on to scalp Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes in no time to break the back of their batting.
“Fabulous spell of fast bowling by @jaspritbumrah93. A good fightback by #TeamIndia with every player contributing. #ENGvIND,” Sachin tweeted for the Indian team.
On the final day though it was Ravi Ashwin who ended the proceedings by picking the wicket of James Anderson. It was his first wicket of the match as the fast bowlers of India had dictated throughout. The offie, however, had bowled well despite not being 100% fit. It will be important for him to work on his fitness in the next few days and hit the straps for the fourth Test in which the tourists would love to level the series and take it into the decider.
