Sachin Tendulkar is impressed with Virat Kohli's habit of scoring centuries
Kohli went on to score 139 runs during his stay in the middle.
Team India has continued their dominance in the ongoing first Test against Windies. None other than the skipper Virat Kohli led from the front and made sure that the hard work done by the top-order wasn’t wasted as he walked past the 100-run mark without even breaking a sweat on the second morning. The former Indian great Sachin Tendulkar was impressed with his consistency and lauded him for his impeccable efforts with the bat.
After coming in to bat at 209/2, Kohli just batted sensibly without taking any risks and concentrated on rotating the strike. He rarely gives his wicket away and the fact that the 29-year-old walked in at a comfortable position after a long time showed in his approach as well. India were two down very quickly often in the recently concluded Test series in England and things were back to normalcy again while playing at home.
Prithvi Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara put up a brilliant 206-run stand for the second wicket and set a platform for the batsmen to come and enjoy themselves on a featherbed.
Kohli showed remarkable patience
Virat Kohli doesn’t believe in tonking the ball in Tests much like Rishabh Pant did today in the first session and he respected the opposition bowling. He played some glorious cover-drives and also completed his 3000 Test runs in India but there was no complacency in his shot-making. He values Test format and his every knock proves it time and again.
The only time he tried to play a lofted shot in the second innings in a bid to up the scoring rate, Kohli got out on 139 runs. He took 230 deliveries to score those many runs and hit only 10 fours during his stay in the middle.
Sachin Tendulkar, meanwhile, was all praise of the Indian captain, who is the leading candidate to break the master blaster’s record of 51 Test tons, and was impressed with his habit of scoring centuries every time he walks out to bat in the whites.
