Sachin Tendulkar shares picture of Brian Lara's son holding bat, compares it with his childhood picture
Sachin Tendulkar was quick to respond to Brian Lara's Instagram post.
Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar are two legends of the cricketing world. Both the players share a good relation off the field, even after being fierce competitors on the field for several years. The two have often credited each other for their records and have often admitted to being good friends. On Wednesday, Sachin uploaded a picture of his childhood comparing to Lara’s son’s picture on the other side.
It all started when the former West Indian batsman uploaded a video on his official Instagram profile. In that video, we can clearly see his young son trying to play some shots. In the video, Lara’s wife can also be heard telling him whether he wants to bat like his father or not. In the caption of the Instagram post, the former cricketer said that he thinks his son could become a left-handed batsman like him, just by seeing his grip.
I know of another boy who had a similar grip: Sachin Tendulkar
“Look at the way he grips the bat, that tells me he wants to be a left-handed batsman. Mummy is giving him some good advice. Look at the attitude when told to switch hands. “Both hands on the bat” NO, Action time swings right misses swings left and makes contact #donedeal #leftiebatsman “Don’t you want to play like daddy” NO! #betterthan That’s my boy!”, the caption of the post by Lara read.
After seeing this video, Sachin Tendulkar decided to make a collage of Lara’s son and his own childhood. In the collage which the former Indian batsman uploaded, we can see an image which depicts similarities between how Lara’s son was holding the bat and how Sachin himself used to hold the bat when he was young.
The former legendary batter said to Lara via the caption that his son could also become a good cricketer as he himself turned out to be one after his initial days of not holding the bat properly. “@brianlaraofficial I know of another boy who had a similar grip and didn’t do too badly in international cricket,” Tendulkar wrote in his caption.
After seeing this post, Lara re-uploaded the picture. He wrote, “I can see that @sachintendulkar and some of the best bowlers in the world felt that sword! Well, I am not interfering then lol. Thanks for the advice. #rightvsleft #legend #mostruns #recordsmen.”
