Sachin Tendulkar thanks Brett Lee for sharing fan’s picture, takes a jibe at the fast bowler
Tendulkar was quick to remind Brett Lee of the beamer the Australian hurled at him in 2008.
Sachin Tendulkar was the most complete batsman to have ever played cricket. The ‘Master Blaster’ has millions of fans, not just in India but across the globe. He might have retired from the game in 2013 but he continues to have a great fan following. Recently, former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee came across a diehard fan of the Indian batsman.
Brett Lee was amazed to see a fan get a tattoo on his shoulder of the great batsman. In India, cricketers are worshipped but Lee was pleased to see the intensity of one Tendulkar fan and promised to show it to the great man himself. He shared a picture of it on his Instagram account and tagged the right-handed batsman, who now mentors the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Sachin reposts on Insta
Tendulkar reposted the picture on his official Instagram and in the process, fired a friendly volley at the former fast bowler. Since the tattoo was on the fan’s shoulder, Tendulkar was quick to point out the infamous beamer that Lee bowled at him in the first final of the CB series of 2008. Tendulkar was batting on 98 when Lee attempted to bowl a yorker which went horribly wrong and hit the opener on his shoulder on the full. Lee was quick to apologize and check on Tendulkar’s well being immediately. Both shook hands and exchanged pleasantries before getting on with the game which India had won eventually.
Tendulkar, on his Instagram account, wrote: “Thanks Binga! You’ve at last yorked me here” he followed this with a wink to refer to the 2008 event. He, then, went on to thank the fan for his unconditional support. “A big thank you to the fan for all his support.”
