He has opened up about his fond memories of staying in the country and also the quality time he spent with the people here. Akhtar specifically mentioned the likes of Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan as he shared the memorable experiences he has had with them.
Akhtar asserted that both Shahrukh and Salman had been caring towards him and always protected him as their younger brother. He also highlighted that he spent a lot of time in India and that his local friends asked him to get his identity documents remade.
“I loved interacting with people in Bombay (Mumbai), Salman and Shah Rukh have really taken care of me like a younger brother. And whenever I was with their families and their circles, they made sure to always protect me. Unfortunately, it’s been five years, I haven’t been able to come to India. But there was also a time when people had started asking me to get my Aadhar and Ration Cards made because of how much I worked there.” Shoaib Akhtar said in an exclusive interaction with Sportskeeda’s YouTube channel.
I have very fond memories of India: Shoaib Akhtar
Owing to the political conditions between India and Pakistan, the nations do not get involved in any bilateral cricket series. The last time the two teams locked horns for a bilateral series was in 2012-13 in which Pakistan triumphed over India 2-1 in a three-ODI series.
Talking further, Akhtar pointed that he has been looking forward to things to improve between the two countries and that he is been praying for the same. He also added that if this happens he could be the first person to land here and make tons of money.
“I have very fond memories of India, I just keep on praying (to come back), I recently told my friends, too, that hopefully India and Pakistan will have better relations in a few months and I’ll be the first person to land in India and make tons of money (chuckles),” Akhtar asserted
