Nepal’s first cricketing superstar Sandeep Lamichhane’s popularity has grown leaps and bounds ever since he has started playing in the T20 leagues all over the world. He has played in the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, the T10 league, The Global T20 league and the Big Bash League in Australia and has excelled in his craft of leg-spin wherever he has gone.
Recently, the 18-year-old leggie was seen playing the just-concluded Indian Premier League 2019, where his team, the Delhi Capitals managed to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Lamichhane got limited opportunities but picked 8 wickets in 6 games with the best bowling figure of 3/40.

Lamichhane has played 6 ODIs and 5 T20Is for Nepal and has picked 15 and 5 wickets respectively. He was the first Nepalese player to get a bid in the IPL, when he was picked for INR 20 lakh in IPL 2018 by then named Delhi Daredevils, who retained him in the auction in IPL 2019.
Lamichhane has received praise and moolah and he recently showed off his newest family member, a BMW G 310 R motorbike and shared the image of Twitter.
Lamichhane has been hailed as the next superstar leg-spinner and was compared to the likes of Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Even Australia’s Glenn Maxwell called him an absolute star, as he captained him in the BBL 2018-19 for Melbourne Stars. “He’s probably not as strong and well developed but the way he has deception with his fast arm action (is similar to Khan). For such a young player, he’s a very smart bowler. I was just hitting every ball straight up in the air or getting bowled. He’s an absolute star,” Maxwell was quoted as saying in Fox Cricket.
Sandeep Lamichhane, though he got to play just eight games for DC this season due to the presence of Amit Mishra and Akshar Patel, proved to be an asset whenever he got the ball and gave away runs at 9.13 runs per over. The Nepal team recently made history by moving up to the 11th spot in the ICC T20I rankings which were updated in May 2019.
