Sanjay Manjrekar responds after a fan calls Ravindra Jadeja the best Indian all-rounder after Kapil Dev
The veteran admitted that Jadeja has been prolific for Team India in the longest format.
Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian all-rounder, came up the ranks from the 2008 U19 World Cup, the same tournament which also started Virat Kohli’s journey. Even as Kohli is one of the greatest cricketers in the modern era if not the greatest, Jadeja is also a key member of the Indian team.
Jadeja started his career as someone, who was known for his bowling, not so for his batting. However, since 2018, his batting has improved leaps and bounds. With over 4,300 runs with one century and 27 fifties, he has contributed for Team India in the lower middle-order.
Ravindra Jadeja shows his class
He is currently a part of the Indian Test squad that is busy playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He missed the first Test in Adelaide due to injury that he suffered during the three-match T20I series.
However, in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the 32-year-old showed his utility. In the first innings, he picked up Pat Cummins’ wicket and scored 57 runs off 159 balls with three fours.
In the meantime, a fan reckons that Jadeja is the greatest Indian all-rounder after the legendary Kapil Dev. The latter is also the 1983 World Cup-winning skipper of the Men in Blue.
The fan took to Twitter and wrote, “Guess @sanjaymanjrekar won’t agree or like. But @imjadeja is the best Indian allrounder with the best record after Kapil Dev. And his batting in last few years has just got better. Well played Sir Jadeja.”
Manjrekar also had an apt reply in store for the user on Twitter. The veteran admitted that Jadeja has been prolific for Team India in the longest format. The 55-year-old Manjrekar responded to the user and wrote, “Big admirer of Jadeja, when it comes to Tests, have always been for years. Test cricket is his strong suit.”

Back during the 2019 World Cup, Manjrekar created a lot of controversies when he called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ cricketer. Thereafter, Jadeja asked the commentator to stop his ‘verbal diarrhoea’ and also notched a magnificent half-century in the semi-final against New Zealand at the Old Trafford. The netizens also lashed out at Manjrekar for his comments, which were deemed as indifferent.
