Cheteshwar Pujara hadn’t had an auspicious time ever since he started playing in England this year, starting with his county stint with Yorkshire. During his stint, he couldn’t garner a single half-century. Moreover, he didn’t find a place in the playing eleven of the first Test match, which the visiting team lost by 31 runs, at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
In a bid to turn their fortunes around, India drafted in Cheteshwar Pujara for the second Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The batter looked determined but unfortunately was unable to get a substantial score under his belt. The 30-year-old got out to a rash stroke in the first innings of the third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
Pujara racks up a stupendous century
To his delight, he came into his own in the second innings of the match with a gutsy knock of 72 runs. The Gujarat-born batsman scored 132 runs from 257 balls and helped his team to a reasonable first innings score of 273 runs. Most importantly, the knock bailed the visiting team out of a precarious position when they were reeling at 195/8 in 61 overs.
India, eventually, ended with a crucial lead of 27 runs after the conclusion of both team’s first innings. He came to bat at number three and played till the very end. Following the knock, the middle-order batsman was showered with accolades from every nook and corner of the cricketing fraternity.
In the meantime, Sanjay Manjrekar, the cricketer turned commentator, put him forth as an example for youngsters. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Any kid thinking I don’t have enough talent to make it, look at Pujara, that’s your role model right there. #Grit.”

However, the comments somehow didn’t go down well with the users on the social media platforms. Subsequently, they trolled him left right and centre.
Here is how Twitter reacted
What the heck you are talking about…pujara is not having talent.. he is arguably one of best batsmen in India.. but I have serious doubts about ur cricket acumen ..

I love it when Pujara keeps proving you wrong. How much ever you may not like it, he is the best batsman in the test side after Kohli.

What is talent? Is looking good while scoring, a talent? Is having the power to concentrate for long, not a talent? Why is Rohit talented and Pujara not talented? Questions that always fascinate me

He surely is a more talented cricketer than you
