Sarfaraz Ahmed made the same mistake what Virat Kohli did in CT 2017 final: Shoaib Akhtar
India are looking good to post a huge total on the board.
All the eyes were on the Manchester weather on Sunday. There were prayers going on in India and Pakistan for the match to not get washed out and as it turns out, the sun is currently brimming over the Old Trafford. After being put into bat first, India have bossed the game completely with their openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul pummelling the opposition and the former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar thinks that Pakistan have made a mistake after winning the toss.
Rather one wouldn’t blame Sarfaraz Ahmed as well with the clouds all over the stadium and the forecast was also to rain during the match. Moreover, the pitch was also under the covers for the majority of the period in the lead up to the game. But the game turned on its head after Rohit and Rahul played out Mohammad Amir’s new ball spell as the other pacers Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz couldn’t hit the right lines.
It was easy going for India soon and especially Rohit got stuck into Pakistan’s bowling churning out runs at a quick pace. After the first 10 overs, the sun was also out and the ball coming on to the bat easily which clearly suggests that Pakistan’s decision to bowl first has backfired completely.
Akhtar recalls Kohli’s mistake
Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar has admitted to the fact that Pakistan have made a huge mistake by opting to bowl first. He recalled how Virat Kohli put Pakistan into bat first in the Champions Trophy final two years ago and reckoned Sarfaraz Ahmed also made the same mistake. “Sarfaraz made the same mistake what kohli made back in CT17. Won toss and bowl first. #PAKvsIND,” his tweet read.
Here’s his tweet:
In the 2017 CT final, Pakistan had posted a mammoth total of 338 runs for the loss of four wickets in 50 overs. Fakhar Zaman had slammed a massive century in the final and was reprieved by a no-ball from Jasprit Bumrah as well. However, India had crumbled in the chase to get bowled out for 158 runs in the 31st over. If Akhtar’s tweet is to be believed, the same is likely to repeat in Manchester as well.
