Pakistan’s ICC World Cup 2019 captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has opined that there is nothing to panic despite the team losing the first two ODIs against Australia in the ongoing series. He has been rested from the five-ODI match series against Australia in UAE, along with five other major players. Pakistan side is led by veteran Shoaib Malik in the series.

Pakistan has lost both the first and second ODI by eight wickets each. They batted first in both the matches and lost the game quite comprehensively. Haris Sohail’s 101* had helped them post 280 runs on the board. But 116 from Aaron Finch and 91* from Shaun Marsh triumphed the visitors as they reached the target with an over in hand.

In the second match, Mohammad Rizwan’s 115 powered the home side to another 280+ total. The same story repeated again as Finch slammed an unbeaten ton while Usman Khawaja showed his skills in the chase this time.

We have a lot of time

Sarfaraz Ahmed was rested for this five-match series against Australia after he had led the Quetta Gladiators to the Pakistan Super League 2019 victory. “The World Cup is a tough competition because of the format this time but we have done our preparations and we will have time to finalize our plans when we go to England and also play the ODI series against England and some practice games as well,” Sarfaraz Ahmed was quoted saying by Sportstar.

The Pakistan team skipper decided to don Pakistan Army uniform on Saturday to celebrate the Gladiators title win at a special ceremony organized by the Baluchistan government. Earlier in the month, the Indian team had worn the special army caps in the Ranchi ODI against Australia recently.

This was opposed by Pakistani Foreign and Information Minister who urged the Pakistan Cricket Board to take up the issue with the International Cricket Council (ICC). However, the ICC had explained that the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) had taken permission from them to wear the camouflaged caps in the match beforehand only.
