Sarfraz Ahmed bats for Fawad Alam's Pakistan comeback
Sarfraz Ahmed was also asked about the potential comeback of Kamran Akmal in the national side.
Out of favor veteran batsman Fawad Alam has been scoring heavily in the Pakistani domestic circuit. He has been one of the top performers in the last couple of domestic seasons. Yet, he has not received a national call up. Recently, as per the reports of brecorder, Alam has found the backing of Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed. Sarfraz noted that the southpaw has been playing well and is indeed in a sublime form.
He hopes to see Fawad make a comeback to the national setup. In the last few months, Alam has repeatedly been summoned to the National Cricket Academy, where he has trained and has had conversations with several coaches and managers. This has given him a lot of hope to stage a comeback.
But the comeback has not quite arrived yet. Recently, Sarfraz noted that the selection committee always takes his suggestions and inputs before naming the team. This looked like a clear indication that Fawad might be recalled to the side soon.
“The selection committee is supporting me and whenever I ask for a player to be added to the team, the selection committee tries its best to make the arrangement accordingly,” quoted Sarfraz Ahmed as per the quotes in Dawn.com.
On Kamran Akmal
Sarfraz Ahmed was also asked about the potential comeback of Kamran Akmal in the national side. Kamran recently scored a record breaking ton in the domestic cricket. He has been out of the team for quite some time now. Commenting on him, Sarfraz used a very diplomatic stance. He mentioned that any player who performs well and is in a good form deserves to be in the national side.
“This team plays for Pakistan and whoever performs well will get a fair chance to play for the country,” Sarfraz noted when asked about a potential comeback of Kamran Akmal.
