Saurabh Tiwary and Albie Morkel join Rising Pune Supergiants for IPL 2016
Rising Pune Giants, the first timers in the IPL, have included Jharkhand hard hitter Saurabh Tiwary and South African all-rounder Albie Morkel in their squad. Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG), owned by Sanjeev Goenka, had already bought 23 players in the recently conducted auctions.
The addition of both these players will add more strength to the side which features names like Kevin Pietersen, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan, and others.
Tiwary previously represented Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers and Delhi Daredevils while Albie Morkel played for the Chennai Super Kings.
“Both players, who represented the Delhi Daredevils in the previous edition, will now play for the Pune franchise.
“The Rising Pune Supergiants had a brilliant IPL Player Auction. Adding some big names like Kevin Pietersen and Mitchell Marsh to the squad after having signed Indian ODI and T20I captain MS Dhoni, R Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane in the IPL Player Draft earlier this year,” he added.
Delhi Daredevils CEO, Hemant Dua said: “Both Saurabh and Albie have served the Daredevils very well and we would like to thank and wish them the very best for the coming season.”
Rising Pune Supergiants CEO, Raghu Iyer said: “We are pleased to have Saurabh Tiwary and Albie Morkel for the upcoming season. They both are proven performers in the Indian Premier League and will strengthen our team.”
Dhoni will skipper the team while Stephen Fleming will head the coaching staff. Before the Auction, they had already picked India’s limited overs skipper MS Dhoni (C & WK), Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith, Faf du Plessis and R Ashwin in IPL Draft.
