Security beefed up at MS Dhoni's farmhouse in Ranchi after rape threats to his 5-year-old daughter
"Cricket should only be seen as a medium of entertainment, but people are going beyond it, keeping others modesty on stake," JSCA Vice-President said.
Police in Ranchi has beefed up the security at former India cricketer MS Dhoni’s farmhouse after rape threats to his five-year-old daughter on social media. Dhoni is currently in the UAE while his wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva are staying in the farmhouse at the moment. Not many families have travelled with the cricketers this time due to COVID-19 restrictions.
With CSK not doing well, some of the so-called fans, earlier this week, flooded MS Dhoni’s last Instagram post (retirement post) with hate comments while also giving rape threats to his daughter. A lot of former cricketers have also condemned this while stating the players’ families shouldn’t be dragged always.
Meanwhile, Police has confirmed that they have increased patrolling outside the cricketer’s farmhouse. Even personnel in civil clothes have been deployed to keep an eye on suspicious elements. Even the cyber cell is at work to track the ones who made such a distasteful comment.
“Frequency of patrolling near Dhoni’s farmhouse has been increased. We are keeping a close watch on the movement of suspicious elements near the house. In addition to that a squad has also been kept reserve at a certain distance from his farmhouse to deal with any exigency.
“A number of static force, which already was deployed in and around his farmhouse, has also been increased,” Rural SP Naushad Alam said according to New Indian Express.
JSCA Vice President condemns rape threats
The Vice-President of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), Ajay Nath Shahdeo, termed such an incident unfortunate and also went on to say cricket should be watched for entertainment and nothing else. “Cricket should only be seen as a medium of entertainment, but people are going beyond it, keeping others modesty on stake. This is really unfortunate,” he said.
Moreover, the young cricketers of Jharkhand who idolise MS Dhoni have decided to stage a protest at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi. On the other hand, CSK’s poor run in the tournament continued as they lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday. They have now lost five out of seven matches and will need to up their game to make it to the playoffs.
