Shahid Afridi slams people on social media for spreading fake news regarding his daughter's health
Afridi finally broke his silence on this matter and asserted that his daughter is absolutely fine.
Pakistan’s veteran all-rounder and former skipper Shahid Afridi slammed the people on social media for spreading false news regarding the reason behind his exit from the 2020 edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2020). Afridi, who was captaining the franchise Galle Gladiators, made a sudden exit from the league in early December.
The veteran had revealed the news of his exit from the marquee event via his official Twitter handle. The all-rounder had revealed that he had to leave the tournament in the middle owing to a personal emergency back home. However, he had assured that he would be back with the team once the situation settles down.
“Unfortunately I have a personal emergency to attend back home. I will return to join back my team at LPL immediately after the situation is handled. All the best,” Shahid Afridi had tweeted.
Later the official Twitter handle of Lanka Premier League had confirmed that the reason behind Shahid Afridi’s hasty exit from the league was the health of one of his daughters who has been admitted to hospital. They had also shared a picture of Afridi with his daughter.

However, Afridi finally broke his silence on this matter and asserted that his daughter is absolutely fine. According to Geo.tv, the former captain revealed that his daughter was never hospitalized and criticized people for spreading false news on social media. Afridi also said social media users should be more responsible and not spread false rumors.
On Sunday, December 13 the Pakistani all-rounder also took to his official Instagram handle to wish one of his daughters a happy birthday. Shahid posted an adorable picture featuring his daughter and himself along with a heart-warming message.
“Happy Birthday meri pyari beti!. I’m blessed to have my daughters around me. Thank you, Allah, for the blessings,” Afridi wrote.
Afridi’s sudden exit from the league was a massive blow for his franchise Galle Gladiators. Afridi was a vital cog for Gladiators considering his past records in the white-ball format along with his capability of leading the team from front.
The 40-year-old has 8064 and 1416 international runs in 398 ODIs and 99 T20 Internationals respectively at an average of 23.6 and 17.9. Afridi also boasts of scalping 395 wickets in 398 One Day Internationals along with 98 wickets in 99 T20 Internationals.
