Shahid Afridi may call it a day in international cricket but has started to engage his time in humanitarian activities. 25 Pakistani nationals who are prisoners in Dubai jailed for small financial crimes were helped by the former captain. Afridi agreed to pay the fine for all of these 25 people and make sure they are released.

The fine is as huge as $21000 and Afridi did not hesitate one bit in paying them for the soon to be released prisoners. According to the Dubai police, Shahid Afridi himself offered to pay for the financial crimes the convicted people committed. Brigadier Dr. Mohammad Al Murr who is also the Director-General of General Directorate of Human Rights at Dubai police praised the veteran cricketer for his efforts.

“He offered help to his countrymen who facing financial cases such as debts and bounced-cheques. He will pay money to release around 25 Pakistani prisoners,” Murr said while talking to Khaleej Times.

Al Murr heaped praises on Afridi as he emphasized on the new chance at life these prisoners would soon possess. “We thank Afridi for his humane effort in helping release the Pakistani prisoners; he has given them a chance at a new life. He claimed he would pay more money every year to release Pakistani prisoners with minor financial cases,” he said.
