Former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan is all set to visit India in November to launch his new book. The news was revealed by his wife Minnoo Khan. The title of the book is ‘Bhopal to-day’ which will be launched in Delhi in November.

Shahryar who is 83 years old now was born in Bhopal and his book has no mention of cricket at all. He was the foreign secretary of Pakistan before becoming the chairman of the PCB. He is still active and gives lectures at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). His wife provided insights of the book and mentioned that it contains some lively stories of her husband’s life. The book’s cover page has a photo of Shahryar Khan when he was three.

“Saab (as she calls him) has just finished a book on Bhopal to-day and hopefully it will be launched in Delhi in November. It is about his (my husband’s) childhood in Bhopal and the book contains some lively stories on Bhopal Court Life. It is related to the Nawab of Bhopal and his foreign visitors and his household things etc,” Minnoo said during her interaction with Kashmir Times.

Khan’s India connection

Incidentally, the former PCB chairman is a first-cousin of the late Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi. “Yes, we are still in touch with Pataudi’s family,” Khan said without naming Pataudi’s wife Sharmila Tagore. Mansoor Ali Khan was seven years younger to Khan and they both studied together in England. Also, Shahryar had visited Pataudi n Delhi’s hospital a few hours before Nawab’s death.

While the book is set to be launched in November it would be interesting to see if the former foreign secretary of Pakistan has mentioned his time with MAK Pataudi in it.
