Shakib celebrating his birthday alone

During his stay in the US, Shakib had to stay in quarantine due to the massive coronavirus outbreak. He feared that he might have carried the novel virus after travelling via flight. Hence, instead of meeting his family, he headed to a hotel. On March 24, Shakib turned 33 years old and on the auspicious occasion, he had to spend time alone and away from his beloved family.

From his hotel, he posted a video where he expressed his grief of not being able to meet his daughter. But then he realised that the sacrifice was worth it, especially when the world is screeching in the stranglehold of the coronavirus. He also made his fans aware of the importance of social distancing, staying sanitized and taking any precautionary measure.

Shakib has also come forward and lent his helping hand for the ones affected in the COVID-19 pandemic. The Shakib Al Hasan Foundation pledged to serve as many as 2,000 families and also hoped to increase the number. The organisation wished to collect funds from worldwide and use them for the low-income families. Shakib is currently serving a suspension from the ICC, imposed on him in October 2019.
